The classic arcade game of Tetris but now it's also a word game - form valid words to clear the tiles!

controls:

  • left & right arrow - horizontal movement
  • down arrow - soft drop
  • spacebar - hard drop
  • up arrow - rotate right
  • C - hold tetromino
  • ESC - pause

note:

  • recommending everyone to start with cheats toggled on -> this will highlight possible valid words
  • only ≥3 letter words are considered valid
  • gravity applies only on columns where tiles were cleared
    • the clearing of tiles will cascade if more words are formed after gravity is applied
  • endless game but maximum level/speed is 10

future developments:

  • difficulty level implementation -> setting highlights to only appear when tetromino is within a certain distance from its hard drop position

massive thanks to all the creators of the assets I used

Interesting concept. It's really hard to form words while trying to play tetris, most of the words I formed is from random pressing.

I really love the concept of this game, it is a very unique spin off of tetris because it doesn't just add buffs to the game. I agree it is quite hard to form words, and abit sad to use cheats especially when the word game is also another fun element that players can work with. I still really love the concept and its implementation because it wouldn't be easy to make random letter combinations work, I had fun!

Other than not enjoying Tetris, I do not particularly enjoy this game due to how impossible it is for me to multi-task and plan what words to build upon. I know that there's cheats, which I highly recommend everyone to play with, but without it, I think most people are just playing until they get lucky enough to form a random word.

Maybe that's just me and I'm bad at Tetris.

Sometimes, the Tetronimos can also contain words of their own, destroying parts of itself when it lands. Sometimes, whole chunks of blocks will be destroyed. This is with cheats enabled as well.

I think the concept is interesting, but Tetris might not be the correct vehicle for it. I think it needs to slow down and not have to do a balancing act.
